Who needs boys when you can have your best friends?

Let’s talk money. I recently checked my bank statement and it is not where I would like it to be. I have enough in my savings and a steady income coming in to help cover my bills. Like most post grad lifers we have a lot of bills (student loan ugh) that we need to pay. My goal after graduating was to become financially independent and start taking on a bigger responsibility when it comes to my life. I bought a car in my name, pay my own car insurance and Nelnet will be the most consistent thing in my life for the next decade! What was I thinking?? I see more money coming out of my checking account than I would like. While balancing my checkbook (LOL who am I?!) I decided I needed to start budgeting better.
I love sales. I am really good at getting pretty things on sale and love to swipe my AmEx. For the next few months I am going to try to keep my AmEx in my wallet to collect some dust. When I see clearance or sale I need to just see what is there. It is not just with clothes or things but when I go food shopping as well. In my house I do the food shopping so I usually end up with tons of things I do not need in my cart.

Cubicle Sweet Cubicle

Just because you have to spend all day at your desk that does not mean you can’t have some fun! If we have to sit in front of our desks for hours at a time we should at least personalize the space and make it pretty! Inspire your Monday with some cubicle or desk decorating tips!
For Christmas I surprised a friend with some goodies for her cubicle. I put together some of the office goodies I picked up for her and what is on my desk. I got everything at TJ Maxx and Homegoods which really helped with my budget. This style may not fit everyone but I encourage you all to go out and spruce up your desk some way this week. I started writing with a new pen and got pink post its, a subtle change but these winter months need some pop of color!
It’s time to inspire your home away from home!
Take the day off, work will be there when you get back…
On Tuesday morning I woke up on time for work and dragged myself out of my warm bed to get ready for work. When I saw my work outfit on a hanger laying out for me I decided I was going to play hooky. I called work and told them I was not going to come in. Since working at my job since June 1st I have only taken two days off of work. Lately I have been in this repetitive slump at work and in life. Every day it is the same thing over and over. A busy chaotic day at work ends and I go home with very little energy. The only thing now that gets me out of the house is going to the gym or fitness classes. Even in college I never skipped a class and was always running somewhere. Unfortunately about the real world is there are no holidays or snow days. I felt so anxious taking a day off of work so last minute but by noon I was so relaxed. There comes a time in life that we revolve our lives around a job and not about our self care. My day is determined by how good of a day I had at work. I do not think our days should just be about our job. I cannot remember the last time I did something for myself and not feeling guilty. Even staying up late makes me anxious because I will not be able to give 100% at my job the next day.
My weekends start and end without me even noticing it is over. I start the week and before I know it is Friday with nothing fun to show for it. Does anyone else feel this slump?
On Tuesday morning I walked downstairs in my comfy pajamas to have breakfast with my family. My parents had the day off so we spent the entire day watching Netflix in pajamas and wrapped up in blankets. This is better than any vacation we could have taken!

If you are looking for a show to finish in one day this is a great binge watch. We finished the show in one day and I cannot wait for the next season. It is a show full of laughs and shows how important it is to have a best friend in life.
Blonde Rosie Lately
Today at work while looking over my to do list for the week I realized that the first month of the year is almost over. So far, this year is flying by!!! There is so much I wanted to accomplish this year and I am happy that right now these resolutions are looking good! I have made it to the gym and go to yoga/pilates three times a week. My body doesn’t look different yet but I know it takes a few weeks for yourself to notice. Also, hotel room is booked for Texas in April so I am excited for this new adventure! How is everyone else sticking to you resolutions?? If you have been slacking don’t worry, you have 11 more months to go!!
This month I have been trying to appreciate the little things. I made a rule to cut my spending so I can put more into my savings so I spend more time at home. After buying a ton of Bath & Body Works candles during their sale it is so nice to sit in bed with a candle on watching Netflix. Or just looking at the snow outside and trying to find the beauty of this winter wonderland. I decorated and personalized my desk at work and it makes it very welcoming when I walk in the morning. I can say that I love my job. By having a positive outlook on life and looking on the bright side of everything changes my attitudes while at work. I have been overwhelmed with projects and deadlines. I am doing a gazillion things in one day and try to put 100% in each task. Changing my post its and having my cute knick knacks on my desk can make my day a lot cheery even if I am getting yelled at on the phone about the snow in town. (Yes that was a phone call I received and I told her I had not noticed HA!)
I have a goal for all of you this month. Try to keep your room clean all of February. I promise a daily cleanup really does make a difference! Spend some more time in the morning getting ready for work without having to run out the door without breakfast. Spend some “me time” before you go to bed getting ready for the next day. We only have 24 hours in the day and it never seems to be enough time to do everything! Enjoy the little things in life wherever they are!
Have a good February everyone!
“Sorry I can’t, I’m watching Netflix…”

In college I spent a lot of time outlining research and then writing those lengthy papers. To keep myself sane and prevent me from getting distracted on Facebook or finding any excuse not to study I started binge watching shows on Netflix. Since I always had a paper or two to write I went through Netflix shows very quickly. It was usually a full season a week!
I understand this study style does not work for everyone but it did for me. I get distracted very easily so by creating a distraction for me I could eliminate other distractions I could not control.
My friends started to watch the shows after all I did was talk and binge watch them. Now friends ask me what to watch next or I just force them to watch a show and then they become hooked. So here are some of my suggestions!
