graduation (friends forever)

Today I was reminiscing on my final days as a senior at SJU and my graduation.
It is so hard to think it has been a year since my life has changed forever. After I walked across that stage and accepted a piece of paper my life was over as I knew it. I have enjoyed the good times and struggled through the Post Grad Life. I have made a lot of mistakes and have grown as a person. But I would never change one thing!

I started this Post Grad Life blog to be an outlet for my ideas and adventures. In college I was ALWAYS writing a paper and I did not like idle hands. I like to share my interests and PGL journey with you hoping I am not alone out there struggling. This little blog of mine is a little hobby I hope to continue in my second year of Post Grad Life. Stay tuned for more adventures and continue to live life to the fullest!

It’s gonna be May…

I woke up and all of a sudden it was May! Spring is flying by even if it does not feel like it with this weather. I have my winter clothes away in storage and now I am freezing while I wait for summer! At work I have been preparing for summer for months since my town is a tourist town. The beach and boardwalk is ready now I just have to wait for this weather to cooperate! There has been lots to keep me busy in April and even more events in May.

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day Gift Guide

<br/>

It is almost Mother’s Day so be sure to start finding unique gifts to remind your mom how much you love and appreciate her! Don’t forget a card! It is best to start shopping now instead of the Saturday before when all of the cards are gone at Target and there is nothing but leftover St. Patrick’s Day decor! It will be here before you know it.

My mom loves William’s Sonoma so I try to go in and get her something little since I cannot afford anything in that store! My go to is kitchen dish towels and they are almost always on clearance. Also, you can’t go wrong with one of their mugs! You can also ask them to gift wrap it with tissue and ribbon- free of charge!
My family is slowly getting away from using plastic water bottles so a Swell water bottle is the perfect gift for at work and the gym. It keeps beverages cold all day and is so cute!
An easy gift is an Alex & Ani bracelet because it allows for a personal and thoughtful touch! And a girl can never have too many!
My mom LOVES flowers in the home. But because to keep up with fresh, live flowers is so time consuming and expensive we have a lot of fake flowers around the house. If you buy good ones they look just like the real thing! And no mess of having to throw dead flowers out at the end of the week. At Marshalls or TJ Maxx you can purchase a vase with fake flowers that look so real! Target also has some more fancy ones but are a little more pricey.
It is a nice thoughtful gift that literally lasts foreverrrr.

My families Mothers Day tradition is to go to the flower nursery because it is something my mom did with her mom when she was an adult. We buy our flowers for the summer as a family and spend the afternoon gardening outside. It is a lovely tradition but also makes us productive. The end result is a house surrounded by beautiful flowers grown with love.
What are some traditions you and your family do?

Hello, April

March was a busy month with two holidays, spring weather one week and snow the next day and lots of fun jammed into one month. March is always a confusing month because you can never plan for the weather. I last minute was invited on a ski trip and there was no snow and it was chilly on Easter ruining any energy I had to put on a dress for the occasion. Once again I am sharing this months favorite things. 🙂 Header 1

currently-reading

Call me crazy but I love to read for pleasure. In college I spent too many hours reading hundreds of pages of research, articles and books for classes. In the summer I would have a book with me constantly and living on the beach makes the best place to read.

But now that I am out of school and I have no deadlines to read a 300 page book by the end of the week, Netflix in bed is a lot more tempting than reading before bed. I have so many books started but no interest to finish them. But lately I picked up a book and could not put it down!

I am currently obsessed with The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. It is an easy read with a mystery that doesn’t get solved until the last few pages. It is definitely a page turner!  And good news, the movie comes out in October so here is the deadline to finish it by if you are one of those people that NEEDS to read the book before seeing the movie like I am! traingirl.jpg

are we out of the woods yet?

IMG_5814.JPGWhen I was growing up I spent a lot of time at our cabin in the Poconos that we shared with a few other families. In the winter we would go up there and ski and I would pretend I knew how to snowboard while my parents stayed warm in the ski lodge watching my brother and I fall and then fall again. I have also driven to Pittsburgh, PA more times than I can count! This past weekend two of my favorite things came together, I was invited on a trip to a cabin outside of Pittsburgh in the Seven Springs are.

I forgot how nice it is to just relax with friends in the outdoors. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and at night you could see all of the stars above. Living in New Jersey on the coast I feel like I am always going to Point A to Point B. My routine is so perfectly mapped out to make sure I get everything done. Am I the only one who schedules when they shower??  There is just something about being in the woods that refreshes your body and spirit.

Unfortunately with my job it does not allow many days off for me to go on vacations but weekend trips are so much fun! Sometimes just getting away for the weekend is enough to feel like a relaxing vacation. This Monday was rough getting up for work after too much fun and lack of sleep over the weekend. But the exhaustion was worth a fun weekend with some new & old friends! I encourage everyone to grab some friends and get away for the weekend. I promise you won’t regret it!
