So you were never a saint. And I’ve loved in shades of wrong.

In case you didn’t know my dad is having a midlife crisis and is in a band. This past fall my mom got my dad drum lessons at The Lakehouse Music Academy and wow, it has been an adventure for all of us! My dad and I have always bonded over music with me dragging him to shows all over New Jersey. But now my dad is networking with the music industry in the area and getting invited to VIP events and shows. Seriously!!

On Thursday evening my dad had a “gig” at the famous venue, The Saint in Asbury Park. After work I ran home to quickly change out of my work outfit and throw on something concert appropriate. I paired black shorts with a white satin scoop neck sheer tank. I added some curls to my hair and with a hot pink lip it looks like I am actually getting enough sleep during the week!

My dads midlife crisis has taught me that it is never too late to chase your dreams. My dad has lived his whole life doing what he was supposed to do he put his music dreams on hold. I have to say when I see him on a stage I get emotional seeing him living his dream.

I went to a very prestigious university and received an amazing education in both the arts and science school and the business school. However, now I am looking at how I want to live my life and do not want to wait until I’m 50 years old to pursue my dreams. I decided to put off getting my Masters one more year and pursue this hobby of mine. I have opportunities (literally) knocking at my door. I cannot wait to share the exciting news with you when it becomes more final.

Remember it is never too late to pursue your dreams!

seas the day

In college we didn’t go out on the weekend until 10pm and were out until the bars closed.
Now I am 23 years old and my bedtime is before 10pm!
Earlier in my life my priorities were different. I was out all night and made my classes or work schedule in the afternoon or evenings. I complained about having a 10am class, but now my internal clock wakes me up at 7am and my body is ready to start the day. Now I am not that person who wakes up early ready to go for a run. I still have to drag my body out of bed and need an insane amount of coffee to keep me alert in the office.
I find myself making up excuses just to go home after work.
My usual schedule is work, gym, netflix, bed.

A friend of mine last minute asked if I wanted to go on an adventure, but he didn’t know where we were going yet.
A voice inside my head said “On Fridays you do laundry so you can’t go”.
Did I almost choose to do laundry on a Friday night instead of going out with a friend??
I think I yawned when I said yes I will go….

Summer is not complete without a few stops to Surf Taco.
Growing up on the Jersey Shore, burritos and tacos are a big part of our diet.
I can remember being a teenager at the beach with friends and we would order burritos for delivery to eat right on the beach.
Go get yourself a taco today!

I find that right now in life I prioritize my job first and fun very last.
I constantly make up excuses to stay home and organize my closet by color instead of going out. So what if I am too tired the next day at work?
It is about time we start enjoying our lives and make fun a priority.

After dinner we went for a drive without a destination in mind.
One of the best parts about New Jersey is you can get in your car and in 40 minutes can be in Philadelphia, NYC, the beach or in farmland.

The sunset last night was gorgeous so we decided to go to Sandy Hook. img_0469-1img_0470-1

Even though I live at the beach I hardly spend any time at it.
I also rarely spend time at any other beach but my own.
The most beautiful things in life are free.

Just another day in paradise!

wear it wednesday

This Cami Dress from Old Navy was found on the floor in the clearance section and now I’ve worn it three times so far this week! This print is out of stock but the dress is still in stock. I encourage you all to go buy it in bulk because it has become my new favorite! I wore it to a bar, a family dinner and to the office. I have very few items I can wear to a bar and the office, so I’m really excited about this dress. For my accessories I have worn it with basic flip flops and my J Crew gold sandals for the office to make it a little more dressy. I’m currently obsessed with gold so I wore my gold anchor bracelet from H&M a few seasons ago to keep the look simple. I “borrowed” my moms Tory Burch sunglasses and there is a good chance she is not getting them back. I love these types of dresses because with a few accessories it can be a beach dress or a comfortable work outfit.

Someone wanted to play while I was taking photos!
Summer is flying by and I feel like I haven’t done enough! Some of my college roomies spent the weekend at my house enjoying the beach and cuddling in bed watching Gilmore Girls. To some it would be so boring, but in college we loved to just binge watch shows together. It’s definitely a lot more fun when we are all in my bed eating snacks with Lorlei and Rory! I spent Sunday with family at our house enjoying a perfect summer day. I had so much fun this weekend that getting up in the morning hasn’t been that bad! How is everyone spending their summer? I find it so difficult to have adventures after a long day at work so that’s what I’m working on this month.

this weekend: some ways to pamper yourself

For work, summer is my busy season with always something to get done and my phone always ringing. I am asked silly questions (Is the beach open today?), get yelled at (What do you mean I can only buy a beach badge at the beach?), and asked to do things (Can you make 400 copies, fold them and have them ready by noon?). When I get home from work at 5pm I am exhausted!

My schedule has been crazy with work, entertaining guests and keeping up with household chores. Lately, I have been scheduling in my planner when I can find time to shower because that is how my life is going!

Take time to treat yourself on a Sunday to start your week off fresh with these next few products and ideas.

  1. Invest in a bathrobe. In college my mom got me a pink bathrobe and I will never get rid of it. It is pink with polka dots aka perfect! I felt like Elle Woods when I would wear it in my dorm. I love to snuggle up in it at night after a shower in the winter. My body immediately knows it is time to wind down and get ready for bed. In the summer I love the Victoria’s Secret silk ones and have them in a bunch of different colors. Don’t forget the matching slippers!!

  2. Light a candle.  I end every day by lighting a candle from Bath & Body Works in my room and meditating. I have become obsessed with candles lately and find myself at the store monthly picking up a new one. I love to fill up my room with a scent to fall asleep to!IMG_0018
  3. Take care of your skin. I am one of those people that cannot neglect my skin or I will hate myself for weeks after because of it. I have to wash my face every night or else I wake up with pizza face. When you take care of yourself, you feel better!
Thanks to Influenster, I got a new #VoxBox full of skin goodies from OleHenriksen. I received these products as a gift from OleHenriksen skincare.FullSizeRender (32)FullSizeRender (33)truth serum collagen booster

  5. Take a long shower. At night I just jump in and jump out of the shower because I only have the energy to wash my hair. I couldn’t remember the last time I actually used all of my products while I was in there! On Sundays, I like to spend some extra time using my beauty aisle aka shower. It is just so relaxing to take a long shower and pamper myself.
  6. Exfoliate. At least once a week I use my Olay skincare brush and scrub. I use a lot of other products throughout the week, but on Sundays I make the time to pamper my face. My shower really is the beauty aisle because I love to always try new products and see if they work.

    6. Shampoo.  Fun fact… I only wash my hair like twice a week. The thought of that at first is like ew, that is gross but it has done wonders to my hair! My hair is so much stronger and with a little bit of dry shampoo, you can’t even tell it is greasy. It is also nice that I only have to do my hair 3 times a week saving a lot of time in my morning routine! But on Sundays, I wash my hair! The Dove shampoo has saved my hair BTW. It is the first shampoo that cleans and gets rid of frizzies allowing me to pull of air dried hair.IMG_0226

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Remember to spoil yourself!

This post was sponsored by Ole Henriksen but all my thoughts are my own.

on wednesday’s we wear pink

wear it wednesday

I live and work just blocks from the beach and it tortures me everyday that I don’t have my feet in the sand!  The other day I woke up and did not want to get into another J Crew dress and head to the office. All I wanted was to throw on a bathing suit and jump in the ocean and then lay out to dry in the warm sun.

Of course I got out of bed and went to work but I decided to wear a beach cover up and make it work for a work outfit.  I found it at consignment for super cheap because it is Juicy Couture and no one buys it anymore. RIP early 2000s fashion!
I think I found my new favorite dress to live in.

It is a great outfit to go from work to the bar 🙂

be your own sunshine

wear it wednesdayWork is sometimes the last place I want to be on a beautiful sunny day.
The only thing worse than going to work on a sunny day is having to go on a perfect beach day! I try to wear colors to work as much as possible because work can be so blah at times. I have such a bubbly energy at work I try to keep my appearance fun as well to try to hide how exhausted I am! (Outfit details at the bottom of this post!)

After a long day at work, my mom and I went to Stay Gold to grab salads and enjoy the weather. Usually most days after work I will crash on the couch but my mom I started to do weekly dinners together. With my new work schedule I feel like all I do is work and have no fun!! How do you find time in your day for adventure?
