this weekend: some ways to pamper yourself

For work, summer is my busy season with always something to get done and my phone always ringing. I am asked silly questions (Is the beach open today?), get yelled at (What do you mean I can only buy a beach badge at the beach?), and asked to do things (Can you make 400 copies, fold them and have them ready by noon?). When I get home from work at 5pm I am exhausted!

My schedule has been crazy with work, entertaining guests and keeping up with household chores. Lately, I have been scheduling in my planner when I can find time to shower because that is how my life is going!

Take time to treat yourself on a Sunday to start your week off fresh with these next few products and ideas.

  1. Invest in a bathrobe. In college my mom got me a pink bathrobe and I will never get rid of it. It is pink with polka dots aka perfect! I felt like Elle Woods when I would wear it in my dorm. I love to snuggle up in it at night after a shower in the winter. My body immediately knows it is time to wind down and get ready for bed. In the summer I love the Victoria’s Secret silk ones and have them in a bunch of different colors. Don’t forget the matching slippers!!

  2. Light a candle.  I end every day by lighting a candle from Bath & Body Works in my room and meditating. I have become obsessed with candles lately and find myself at the store monthly picking up a new one. I love to fill up my room with a scent to fall asleep to!IMG_0018
  3. Take care of your skin. I am one of those people that cannot neglect my skin or I will hate myself for weeks after because of it. I have to wash my face every night or else I wake up with pizza face. When you take care of yourself, you feel better!
Thanks to Influenster, I got a new #VoxBox full of skin goodies from OleHenriksen. I received these products as a gift from OleHenriksen skincare.FullSizeRender (32)FullSizeRender (33)truth serum collagen booster

  4. sheer transformation

  5. Take a long shower. At night I just jump in and jump out of the shower because I only have the energy to wash my hair. I couldn’t remember the last time I actually used all of my products while I was in there! On Sundays, I like to spend some extra time using my beauty aisle aka shower. It is just so relaxing to take a long shower and pamper myself.
  6. Exfoliate. At least once a week I use my Olay skincare brush and scrub. I use a lot of other products throughout the week, but on Sundays I make the time to pamper my face. My shower really is the beauty aisle because I love to always try new products and see if they work.

    6. Shampoo.  Fun fact… I only wash my hair like twice a week. The thought of that at first is like ew, that is gross but it has done wonders to my hair! My hair is so much stronger and with a little bit of dry shampoo, you can’t even tell it is greasy. It is also nice that I only have to do my hair 3 times a week saving a lot of time in my morning routine! But on Sundays, I wash my hair! The Dove shampoo has saved my hair BTW. It is the first shampoo that cleans and gets rid of frizzies allowing me to pull of air dried hair.IMG_0226

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Remember to spoil yourself!

This post was sponsored by Ole Henriksen but all my thoughts are my own.

on wednesday’s we wear pink

wear it wednesday

I live and work just blocks from the beach and it tortures me everyday that I don’t have my feet in the sand!  The other day I woke up and did not want to get into another J Crew dress and head to the office. All I wanted was to throw on a bathing suit and jump in the ocean and then lay out to dry in the warm sun.

Of course I got out of bed and went to work but I decided to wear a beach cover up and make it work for a work outfit.  I found it at consignment for super cheap because it is Juicy Couture and no one buys it anymore. RIP early 2000s fashion!
I think I found my new favorite dress to live in.

It is a great outfit to go from work to the bar 🙂

Summer is almost over? Julying!

Helllloooo, July!
I have been dreading July for months because at work it is our busiest month of the season. Finally, when it is the most beautiful day of summer I will be stuck in an office working. On July 4th, it was the town parade and I was the parade coordinator so lots of stress and planning going on! Now that the parade is over (and a big success yay!) I can finally start ot relax and enjoy summer! Hope everyone has a wonderful summer full of fun and sunshine!

WORK

the everygirl - about.jpg

I just found your new favorite website/go to website! I spend hours on the computer reading about other new college graduates or young adults on their journey to adulthood. I have no idea what I am doing so I am trying to find out what to do with my life! Lately I have been obsessed with theeverygirl.com; the ultimate online resource helping shape the creative, career-driven woman to experience her life better lived. If you have questions about work, life, finance, or what to wear this is the site to go to! I check it almost daily and there are many ways to connect with them through social media.

Every month I clean my desk from top to bottom to start a new month neat and clean! I reorganize my folders and clear my desktop on my computer to actually see my desktop! I stare at my computer screen eight hours a day so I find it handy to have a quick glance calendar on my screen. Say what you want about Ivanka, but her website has some handy work resources! Check out my July desktop here.

NETFLIX

I keep running out of shows on Netflix so I am now digging through their whole library to find shows that are not that mainstream.

A television crime drama based upon the exploits of the Roma Peaky Blinders gang, operating in Birmingham, England during the aftermath of World War I. If you are Irish- you need to watch this show! Are you for the cause?

Season One gave us a huge cliff hanger that made me binge watch season two just to find out what happened! The last five minutes of the last episode season two will blow your mind, literally.

PRODUCTS I LOVE

I have horrible skin and I am always trying to find a moisturizer to fix my complexion and reduce my acne. I found a coupon in a magazine for the Garnier Clearly Brighter moisturizer and bought it on a whim. I have been using it for the last few weeks and noticed a drastic change in my skin. I feel a lot more comfortable going makeup free and it’s great to blend foundation with.IMG_0015IMG_0016

Bath & Body Works was having their big sale and I got a little carried away… I have this new obsession with soap and I guess this is just another sign of adulting. Hurry to B&BW while the sale is going on. Sign up for the emails for bonus coupons!

IMG_0018My new night ritual is to light a candle and sit in the dark to just watch Netflix. I have very little alone time in my life, so I try to take advantage of every peaceful moment I can get!

just some thoughts…

I just want to say that when I started this little blog I never wanted to get political or sound like a sociology textbook. I started this silly thing because I like to write and I miss writing papers.

With the recent events I cannot keep my mouth shut about this issue much longer.

Why It Matters To Me

Tonight my heart aches. Tonight I can’t form one sentence to express how I feel. Tonight prayer is not enough. Tonight I want to hold all of the children in the world to protect them. Whenever I hear about a shooting in Philadelphia I pray it is not one of the children I tutored while in college. Those children became my babies and have a special place in my heart. Because of the color of their skin I worried that they might get hurt or not make it through high school because of our society. I read Jonathan Kozol to learn about the exceptions, but also America’s failure to provide an inadequate society for our children of color to grow up in. Tonight I wish I was in Philadelphia holding my babies and promising that this will never happen to them. But for these elementary school children, my babies have already experienced this in their lives. Black Lives Matter. All Lives Matter. My Babies Lives Matter.

Why Race Never Mattered To Me

Growing up I spent a lot of time at my aunt and uncle’s house and they had foster children living with them at the time. It was always a house full of children so hello, it is every kids dream! I spent hours everyday playing with kids and having a great time. It never occurred to me that they were a different skin color. In preschool my first friends were Natalie and Sarah and we were inseparable. Natalie was black and Sara was adopted and did not look like her mother. Since I was never told that race existed I never saw color. In Kindergarten my BFF was this girl named Christina and we spent everyday together. She was also adopted and did not look like her mother. My first few friends in life did not look like me, but they were my best friends. I do not know when I learned about race or where I learned it from. It is a very weird coincidence that my first friends in life were adopted or did not look like me. Even with media and society telling me to notice race I actively try to ignore it telling me how to think.

Put Yourself In Their Shoes

Talk to a friend and talk about racism you see everyday around you. It exists…even if you do not see it.

Don’t roll your eyes when you hear about the subject. Ignorance is the worst form of racism.

be your own sunshine

wear it wednesdayWork is sometimes the last place I want to be on a beautiful sunny day.
The only thing worse than going to work on a sunny day is having to go on a perfect beach day! I try to wear colors to work as much as possible because work can be so blah at times. I have such a bubbly energy at work I try to keep my appearance fun as well to try to hide how exhausted I am! (Outfit details at the bottom of this post!)

After a long day at work, my mom and I went to Stay Gold to grab salads and enjoy the weather. Usually most days after work I will crash on the couch but my mom I started to do weekly dinners together. With my new work schedule I feel like all I do is work and have no fun!! How do you find time in your day for adventure?

a patriotic weekend

You would think that living on the beach would be the perfect life, right?! Days spent at the beach and not a care in the world? Nope!
Since it was Fourth of July Weekend my family and I had to get creative on how to have fun away from the beach and tourists. We decided to visit a brewery in a nearby town and bring our friends from Alaska who are staying with us for the week.

IMG_0115

The last place we wanted to be was at a crowded bar during the holiday so this was a great experience to try. After a “tour” we went to the rooftop and got to sample beers. This brewery has a lot of beers with very high alcohol levels. Very high! It is definitely a cool thing to do during the summer when you just want to grab a drink with a friend- did I mention it’s free?!?

IMG_0116IMG_0122IMG_0121IMG_0124FullSizeRender (28)FullSizeRender (30)

A trip to the brewery was planned very last minute and I was outside sunbathing/snoozing when I was told to get in the car. I was wearing my traditional July 4th swimsuit (I only wear a one piece once a year) and threw on some navy blue shorts. What should have made me look like a hot mess and lazy in a bathing suit, I actually loved my outfit!
