pumpkin patch & plaid

All I have wanted to do this October was to buy a mum (or two!) and get some pumpkins! I feel like I was always busy and then I went on vacation, so I never had the time. I didn’t want to pick up my pumpkins at Wegmans during my weekly shop, I wanted to make the drive to West Jersey to where the farms are. On Monday, I started the first day at my new job and got out early after some training. I called my parents and I dragged them out of the house and to the pumpkin patch! I am so happy to cross off an item on my fall bucket list! It was 80 degrees today, so it did not really feel like fall, but I loved the fall festivities!

Okay, so these pumpkins were a lot heavier than they looked!

The shirt I am wearing is old from L.A. Hearts at Pacsun and the jeans are Bullhead. My boots are from Nordstrom and are less than $100! Check out THIS POST for more information about them. Tuesday Shoesday: Ankle Boots

I love shopping for new styles every season, but I also get really stressed out about making big purchases. If I am going to swipe my AmEx for a big purchase, I hope to be able to use it everyday. I try to save money wherever I can when it comes to clothes, but lately I have had the funds to splurge a little. When I was taking out my fall wardrobe out of storage I realized I needed new ankle boots. Desperately.

I started to look online for options and came to the realization that purchasing just one pair of boots that will go will everything is almost impossible. Should I get black boots, suede boots, brown boots, tassels?? The options go on and on, and free shopping on the Nordstrom website was not helping me make a decision. I suggest making a budget for how much money you want to spend on boots and do not go over it!! When you make a budget, you can then determine what stores you are going to look at for boots. Don’t start browsing Tory Burch boots when you know you cannot afford them!

I wanted to buy a pair of boots that I can wear to work, run errands in and to grab drinks with friends in. I had a lot of demands from one pair of boots! But if I will be spending money on boots, I want to make sure I will wear them every single day.

There are so many different type of booties, with colors, heel style, material and the little details on them. I recently wrote a post about some of the booties I wanted HERE, and after hours of research it made making a decision a lot easier when I was ready to make a purchase!

My Go To Brown Leather Boots
I finally decided to purchase THESE and they have become my new wear with everything shoe. When I wore them the other day my friend almost stole them off my feet because she loved them so much. She loved them even more when I told her they were under $100! I can wear them with neutrals, like with an all white outfit or with jeans and a plaid shirt. Over the summer my go to shoes were my Tory Burch Miller Sandals I wore with everythinggg, so I like that I can wear my boots with my whole wardrobe this fall.
The boots I purchased are simple and not fussy, so I can just throw them on with every outfit.

This post is a little different this week. Today I want to share with you some fall pieces I am adding to my fall wardrobe and how to get your closet ready for fall.

Two weeks ago I finished transitioning my closet from my summer to fall wardrobe and that was definitely a process! I have two closets and a lot of bins full of fall clothing so it took a full day and a half to put all of my summer clothes away, purge and then put fall stuff in my closet. I try to organize and put away my fall wardrobe right away so I can finally see what I have doubles of, what I need to purge, and what I am missing from my fall wardrobe. If I haven’t worn it in two years or it was out of style I donated it. The last year I have made a big effort to simplify my life and give away anything I don’t need. I donated 6 garbage bags of clothing by the end of the weekend!

Organizing Hints:

I am in charge of ordering from Staples for my office and since we go through a case of paper a week I bring home the empty cases home to store things in. They are the perfect size for my closet and are stackable. I went around my room and put all of my summer shirts in a box and my dresses in a box.
Of course… everything labeled for when I do this process again! I have a set number of boxes to store summer clothing. If it doesn’t fit, I make myself decide if I really need it or get rid of something else to make it fit. It really helps me keep control of my closet and make it manageable.
The hardest part about unpacking my fall wardrobe is finding a place for all of my sweaters! They are a winter staple, but they are bulky and difficult to find places to store them. I purchased a hanging shelf from Target and it is a perfect place to store all of my sweaters.

I am so excited the weather is starting to get cooler so I can finally wear a fall sweater and boots. Here are some of my must-haves for fall!

Purse One of the easiest and affordable purchases to a fall wardrobe is a new bag. Now that I have money to spend I want to use it wisely when it comes to my wardrobe. A purse is a great way to start building a wardrobe.

Remember to look for duplicates if you cannot afford the designer bag you want. Target, H&M and Old Navy are known for having the same style for a lot less!

Shoes Fall booties are a staple in a fall wardrobe. I spent hours looking online trying to find the perfect boots with my budget. I decided to get brown booties from Nordstrom after a lot of research! They are adorable and budget friendly! I desperately need a new pair of suede booties, so the next time Old Navy has a sale I will be purchasing these.

Accessories Did you know that Target has plaid blanket scarves in their dollar bin?? Run to your nearest Target because I almost spent $40 on one when I bought two for $7 each instead!

I currently have a black floppy hat, but a part of me also realllly wants this one too!

Let’s Talk Hair

Good morning!

Today I am sharing my hair care routine on the blog and what products I use. My hair is one of my favorite things, but it is also one of the biggest pain in the butt! I have thick, course hair that air dries awkwardly wavy. The last two years I have had a membership to a hair salon. With a small monthly fee, I get unlimited amount of color, cut and blow outs. And for a girl like me who loves her hair, this is the greatest membership ever!

My bathroom is filled with hair products that I use once in a while and ones I use everyday. I love my hair, but I try to spend little time on it now that I like to go to bed early and I don’t want to spend valuable sleep time in the morning fussing with it.

summertime blues

Even though my family and I live in a beach town, we always find an excuse to go another beach town for vacation. This Labor Day was my parents anniversary, so they rented a house with some friends for the week in Avalon. Unfortunately, I was not able to take the week off, but I did get to spend a night with them in Avalon.
