It finally feels like it is summer outside and my wardrobe and I are loving every minute of this sunshine. This past weekend was nonstop with back to back plans, a short trip home to Jersey, working a blogger event at Loft, bringing Ed the cat to Philly and squeezing in some time for friends not to mention the much-needed apartment cleaning and many loads of laundry. Adulting is hard sometimes! I was hoping to have a lazy weekend with my cat, but those plans were quickly replaced with another busy, social weekend!
I left work early on Friday after not getting much sleep the night before to go to my dad’s last concert with his band. At first, my mom and I were a bit delighted that this was the last time we would have to go to a venue for a few hours and hear live music. It’s like the never-ending dance recital at times! However, seeing my dad up on stage made me so happy because even at his age he never stopped pursuing a dream. It was one of the items on his to-do list, to learn how to play drums and perform on stage- and he just did it. His bandmates gave him a farewell speech at the end and he was able to say a few words at the end of their set. I won’t lie, there were a few tears shed because I was so proud of him up there. After the show, the band and friends kept bar hopping until the place had to ask us to leave because they were closed. I didn’t go to bed until 3am on Friday night and I was exhausted after a long work day, the commute to Jersey and out all night. I was only home for a few hours, so I was up early to get as much family time in as possible. Spent my morning at a doctors appointment and the afternoon at The Herbary; this really cute garden center and shop in Jersey. It is like a coastal version of Anthropologie. We spent hours there walking around the gardens and shopping. I highly recommend it!
What I’m Watching
The Bold Type
Hulu suggested I watch this show, so of course, I did and now I have the tv show soundtrack saved on my Spotify. This has been my go to show this week after the gym while I eat dinner. There is this new kind of tv show lately that shows twenty-something girls failing and succeeding in life in a more realistic way and I am loving every moment of it! It is a more realistic tv show about how your twenties should look and I like that I can finally relate to tv shows.
Younger
I have heard of this show, but since it was on TV Land and I rarely watch live tv anymore I never had the chance to watch it. Since I got the very basic cable plan, I decided to sign up for Hulu to be able to watch the shows and movies I wouldn’t get. One night I was trying to find something to watch while I had dinner and stumbled across Younger. I finished the entire series in a week because it is that good! If you have HULU, definitely watch it. I am telling everyone about it.
Handmaid’s Tale
To be honest, this show was one of the main reasons I got Hulu. I have heard about it for so long I needed to know what the hype was about. Again, I was able to catch up in a little over a week because I could not stop watching. My mom read the book last year, so now I want to add it to my reading list. Some parts of it seem like that could never happen in real life, then if you think about it a bit and you realize how easily it could actually happen. It is a show that definitely makes you think….
Products I Am Loving
I like to try every single product out there, but when it comes to my acne skincare routine I will always come back to Neutrogena. It works for my price budget and it is the only product that works for me. I recently ran out of the Neutrogena Acne Proofing Gel Cleanser and it is something I will be purchasing again. It was my go-to face wash in the morning and I liked how my skin felt after using it.
Coola & Influenster sent me some blogger mail this week and I immediately had to use it. I used the Sunless Tan Sculpting Mousse and the gradual tan face serum on Monday to see how long it would last. I was impressed with the color because it looks natural, but I need to practice a bit because even though I used a mitt I was a bit streaky the next morning. I am most impressed by the face serum because holy cow does my face look tan and natural. A blog post about Coola should be up on the blog this next week!
Recent Purchases
Earlier this week on the blog, I talked about my experience at a blogger event at Loft. It was so much fun to be able to spend the day with other Philly bloggers who have such a large following and shop at Loft for a Summer Celebration event. We were encouraged to shop and I did just that. This summer, Loft is making it very difficult not to buy everything in stores because all of it is super cute! I picked up a few camis to wear to work and some statement jeans. My closet is mostly Loft right now because I find they have the best work clothes. The casual clothes are perfect for the weekend because they are cute and easy to throw on. You can see all of my recent Loft purchases HERE.
This Week’s Adventures
When I moved to Philly, I made it a rule that I have to do something fun at least once during the week and have plans for the weekend. Seems silly that I have to force myself to make plans, but after living at home for three years I got comfortable doing nothing on weekends, I need to force myself off the couch. Since my workday has weird hours, I try not to go straight home after work because by the time I actually get home it is a little after 8pm and I lose all motivation to do anything productive. On Tuesday, I got dinner at Shake Shack and walked around Rittenhouse for a bit. I am trying to enjoy these warm summer nights because I am dreading the cold snowy months here in Philly! I still take a new way home most days after work just to see as much of the city as I can. I just discovered there is a Wawa around the corner from my office and I can’t tell if this is a good or bad thing!
