friday favorites

Hope everyone had a wonderful week! Almost forgot it was Friday because I have been working nonstop for over a week and in desperate need for a day off to do nothing all day! A friend recently texted me asking how my 1428 jobs were going… a bit of an exaggeration, but sometimes it feels like I am always working. Between balancing my job in retail semi part time, the job at the college part time and keeping up with my blog everyday, I don’t know how I get any sleep! Tonight I am staying up past my bedtime after a long day of work to go over this weeks Friday Favorites. Enjoy!

These weekly favorites are what keep me going during the week. That and of course a cup of coffee, duhhh!

Let me know your favorites this week in the comments. I would love to know what I should be trying.

Work Favorites

At my job at the college, I sit at a desk for 8 hours and transfer credits for students on the computer. At times it can be a boring job so I always have Goldfish handy and lots of coffee to keep me going!

Grace VanderWaal

I am usually left alone in an office because I work with sensitive information so you need security clearance to get into my office. To break the silence I usually listen to Pandora while I type up college transcripts or to keep me awake to be honest ha! This week I was listening to my Ed Sheeran Pandora station when Grace VanderWaal came on and I was blown away. I loved her on America’s Got Talent and her music has only improved since she made her first album.

It is finally starting to feel like spring outside. This week I have been able to go to work without a coat and to be honest I feel like I am leaving the house naked because it feels so weird not wearing one after the cold months we have had this year. To bring some spring into my office and on my laptop at home, I finally updated my desktop since March. I like to change it up every month and this one has a mini calendar so it is functional and fun!

Update Your Resume

I was networking last week and had someone ask me to send over my resume. At that point I had no clue the last time I updated it or even how to get it to her that day since I wouldn’t be home until very late that night. Spend a night this week and update your resume. I took a resume workshop in college and learned how to put a lot of information on one piece of paper and how to stand out. If you need any advice, please feel free to send yours over! Another piece of advice, email yourself a Word Doc. and PDF version of your resume with the subject “Resume”. Remember to name your document ” your full last name, resume” because that is what employers see first when you email it to them. Now hopefully I find time this week to follow my own advice!

Shopping!

On Monday I told myself that I would not spend a dime this week and was tempted to leave my American Express at home to prevent me from buying anything. LOL

Express

Express Off The Shoulder Top

I went to the mall with my mom to buy her a new wardrobe before a trip she has coming up. I was very proud of myself for not buying anything (except Chick-Fil-A for dinner but I needed it so it is allowed), so to reward myself I went window shopping for things to buy when I am not on a spending freeze. As a millennial I am struggling to find places to buy clothes that are not too teenager, college-y or too mom looking. Since working at J. Crew, the majority of my wardrobe has turned into a J. Crew catalogue and as much as I love the brand, I need others to fill my closet. I went into Express because it is a look I am liking more and more. Granted, I have nowhere to wear their going out clothes, but their more casual and work pieces are really nice! I immediately fell in love with this top and I know it will be coming home with me sooner or later! I love the menswear twist to the off the shoulder top. Similar tops here, here and here. I need all of these!

Banana Republic Factory 50% Off SaleBanana Republic Factory dress on sale

If I am working at J. Crew, on my breaks I like to walk around the mall to get my steps in for the day, but also because I can never sit still LOL I was doing my lap this week when I noticed that Banana Republic at the Outlets is doing a 50% off everything sale. I went to clearance just to look to see if there was something that I needed. I found this dress marked down 50% off the clearance price and had to have it! I am wearing a size 0 and it fits me perfectly! Even better that it was only $23! Head to your local outlets and stock up on summer dresses.

LOFT

When I saw online that Loft was having a 40% sale, I went after work on Tuesday to just browse. I’m not allowed to buy anything this week, remember!? LOFT is one of the stores that I am buying from more because I think it is a great work/casual balance for a millennial. Definitely take advantage of this sale. There are so many items I need in my closet for summer.

TargetSugarfix by Baublebar at Target

I went to Target for a few things to fill my parents Easter basket and $100 later haha Big news, Sugarfix by Bauble Bar is slowly making its way to clearance. Run on over to Target to pick up some Sugarfix accessories. I picked up a bracelet set, not on sale but I needed it, and some classic Baublebar earrings that will be worn daily over the summer. The price range is amazing so definitely stock up on some fun summer jewelry! I also have to highly recommend the L’Oreal Extraordinary Clay shampoo and conditioner. Influenster and L’Oreal sent me full size bottles of it a while back and I ran out of it earlier this week. I was devastated! I started using other shampoos I had in my shower, including high end products, but nothing compares to the texture and healthy look the L’Oreal Extraordinary Clay shampoo gives. Especially now with my shorter hair, this is going to be a lifesaver trying to style shorter hair. Full post on this amazing product here.Loreal Shampoo

I am quickly running out of my usual favorite foundation, Maybelline Fit Me. I am a big fan of the foundation because it gives my skin a natural look and my skin actually glows. However, lately my skin has been breaking out like a lot. So much so that I am switching foundations even though i hope that Fit Me isn’t the cause of it. This month I am trying the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow foundation. I also grabbed a new foundation blender because my old one was getting gross. I will have a review up on the blog soon!Loreal Makeup

Easter Basket Goodies

I don’t know how…but I am off on Easter. This is a big deal because I haven’t had a day off during the weekend in…forever! I am so excited I will be able to celebrate Easter with my family this year and like always, I got a few things for my parents’ Easter Basket. If you want a little something to give to a friend or family member, check out the dollar section because you can get some cute stuff to fill a basket without spending a lot of money!

Products I Love This Week

Once there is a hint of warm weather I start my weekly applying of self tanner. I know that with the warmer weather I am going to be wearing skirts and dresses without tights and my legs are too pale for that! I use Jergens (or the Harmons generic version because it is the same exact thing) once a week to just add a glow to my skin. It is not a noticeable fake tan or makes you look like you have been on a beach all week, but it is a nice glow if you use it just once a week. During the summer months I use it two times a week to make it look like I actually sit on a beach all day haha!Lancome from Influenster package

Lancome recently just sent me a few products complimentary for testing purposes and oh my goodness I love them already. I am going to start my skincare regime on Sunday since I feel like a start to a  new week should be the perfect time to start a new skincare system. I will have my review up on the blog as soon as I can.

Home

Our home is currently decorated for spring and Easter and these pretty colors make me so happy! Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!
