The Perfect Holiday Look

The day after Thanksgiving I start dressing for Christmas everyday. Christmas has to be one of my favorite times of year and not just because it is the day after my birthday. With my house being on the towns annual house tour, Christmas has exploded all over my house. There are boxes of ornaments, fake trees in piles and pine needles everywhere! It is chaos, but I love to see the sight of Christmas in my house. With my work schedule lately we haven’t had time to get a Christmas tree as a family, but I woke up earlier on Sunday, grabbed breakfast and went to Holly Brook Nursery to pick out a tree before work. I am very picky about my trees every year, and now that we raised the ceilings in our living room by three feet… we were getting a bigger tree! My mom and I were looking at trees that were perfect from every angle… my dad was being the engineer trying to figure out how we would get the tree into our house. Some were too big… others too small.

But, we finally found the perfect tree! Measuring tape and sass were involved in the picking of our tree. I could have spent hours walking around the tree forest, but I had to get to work!

I woke up at 6am to curl my hair because I am crazy and on the weekends I try to dress up for work. Working retail during the holidays means that we dress for Christmas every day. I have been wearing all of my red, flannels and cute skirts that I would wear to a holiday party. I have also been wearing a red lip every day after I got a free Bite Beauty lipstick form Influenster and Sephora in November. It is a matte red lip crayon and when I put it on in the morning, it lasts the entire day! The color is Red Velvet.

If you have a holiday party you have to go to, I definitely suggest the plaid classic button down shirt in perfect fit. I wear it at least once a week to work and sell a lot of them at the store. It is the perfect classic, preppy look. Scroll to the bottom for the outfit details! We did a quick little photo shoot while the guys were putting the tree on our car. I love that my mom is now the person who suggests I take photos for the blog. She has been so supportive of my little hobby lately and I am so appreciative of it!

Christmas Trees and Red Cups

I was driving around doing errands on my day off work and drove past the nursery where we get our Christmas tree every year. I decided to pull over and walk through the forest of trees. I have a horrible feeling that with my work schedules I am going to miss picking out a tree with the family this year. I can’t believe it’s already December 1st!! There is still so much I want to do this holiday season and I feel like I’m running out of time

It’s hard to think about Christmas with this warm weather lately. Hopefully we get some snow soon!!

closet inVESTments

If you are looking to buy a statement piece this winter that will last for seasons to come, I have found it! Right now vests are taking over my closet. I have them in so many colors from black, brown, white and even fake fur! I love the way they make an outfit look, it’s warm but without the bulk! When I have to run errands I hate to wear a big puffy coat because then I start sweating in my big coat, so I always throw on a vest when I do a Target or Wegmans run.

Right now I am working at J.Crew part time to make extra money to hopefully move out of my parents house in the next few months. Getting my own place is a really big financial responsibility, and I know that I like to spend money. I am taking steps to grow my savings so when the time comes I can live the type of lifestyle that I want to. However, everyday I come home wanting to buy something or caving in and buying something at the store. My most recent purchase was two vests I have had my eyes on for a while.

These vests have become my new favorite pieces in my closet. The herringbone vest is a J. Crew staple and right now at J. Crew Factory it is sooo cheap it’s silly not to get it.

I normally would not buy a hot pink vest, but it was on clearance, and with my employee discount it was $20. I decided to wear it to work, but I wanted to dress it up a bit. I wore it with a J. Crew peplum top, black jeans, and black suede boots. I didn’t want to add too many accessories, but for work I need to wear a necklace for the store uniform, so I wore a hot pink necklace and my Kate Spade pink bracelet to keep the pink theme going.

You can’t go wrong with a classic black vest! I have an old one from Gap that I still wear every season, but the J. Crew Factory black vest with the gold detail has me wanting to donate mine and get a new one! I have vests in every single color and wear them regularly at work and running around doing errands. With a vest and a simple t shirt, an outfit can be casual or chic with some accessories and boots.

PS: I realllllly like Starbucks lately if you can’t already tell! 🙈

Thankful on Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a great turkey day. I am still stuffed and eating leftovers for every meal. If you have been following along on social media you have been seeing my house under complete renovation. We are talking about taking down walls, installing new floors and a fresh new coat of paint. Two days before Thanksgiving we had the floor guys finish and our house was finished. We had one day to move furniture back in and decorate the house for Thanksgiving. We were all exhausted staying up late after work to get it all finished, but it looks like a real home now.

I’ve been working like crazy lately and enjoyed sleeping late on Thanksgiving (9am). My house smelled like turkey and stuffing, it was the perfect day. My family and I spent the morning last minute cleaning and setting the table for dinner. I wanted to just wear my Lululemon leggings and a sweatshirt to dinner. I searched my closet and decided to wear flare jeans from White House Black Market and a silky shirt I usually wear to work. I threw my Target blanket scarf on as a shawl and used it as a blanket when we all crashed on the couch after dinner.

My mother is actually Martha Stewart! She spent the whole morning baking pies following Martha’s recipes.

But first, coffee!

I am so happy to have our home furnished and renovated for Thanksgiving!

I am so thankful to have a finished house for Thanksgiving. We already have a Christmas tree up and a few other Christmas decorations are popping up. I cannot wait to share our home for Christmas with you!

UPDATE: 11/26/16 Alarm went off at 7am on Black Friday and after breakfast my mom and I headed to the mall. I had limited time to do shopping since I had to be at work at noon, so we went with a game plan.

MACY’S Tis the season to look glamorous and party ready even if you are on a budget. One of the hardest parts of buying new makeup every year is picking out items that go together to make a complete look. The Lancome limited edition holiday kit is the perfect makeup collection for the year. Every Black Friday we go to Macy’s and get their holiday beauty kit, a years worth of makeup for only $60 with any purchase. I have had my eye on the La Vie Est Belle perfume for over a year and finally swiped my credit card and got it. With my purchase I got this amazing beauty kit and I cannot wait to try this! This is technically my birthday present so I’m waiting until Christmas to take it out of it’s pretty box.

Nordstrom: I took advantage of the free shipping and the low prices on designer items after Thanksgiving dinner. I already bought the Kate Spade watch that was on sale for $100 that I have had my eye on for a while. There are also some Tory Burch and Kate Spade bags on major sale right now. The best part is you can do all of your shopping online while in bed!

Old Navy: I love the pajamas this year and I had to stop in for some holiday pajamas! The whole store was 50% off and it’s a good time to stock up on basic tees and leggings. I’ve been drooling over a scarf for months and found it at Old Navy for $10! Sold!! It looks just like the one I almost bought at Nordstrom the other day.

J. Crew Factory: Flannels are a must for fall and with the whole store at 60% off I bought myself a new flannel. It is so hard just to buy a few things when I want everything! If you buy one thing at J. Crew Factory, it should definitely be a vest.

Crafting on a Friday Night
