sometimes you need really cute shoes to make the walk a little more fun
My go to shoe during the summer months are my Tory Burch Miller sandals or my white Jack Rogers. However, with the chilly weather coming with fall I need to switch out my go to shoes for work. Since becoming an adult in the real world, I am always searching for cute and comfy shoes to wear to the office. Over the last few months, I have purged my closet and donated a lot of shoes that I know I will never wear again. Now that I have more room for shoes, obviously I had to shop! Now when I go shopping, I have to ask myself if I will will them a lot, if I can wear them to work, and finally if they are comfortable! Below are some of my favorite shoes to wear to work that I personally own and wear daily!

Loafer Mule // Loafer // Travel Ballet Flat // Zoe flat // Anya Flat // Sandal Mule

you fit me better than my favorite sweater
I love summer with the shorts, flip flops and fun dresses. However, I think sweater weather comes to a close second. I have a lot of dresses, but I think I have even more sweaters. Right now I have 3 bins full of just sweaters in storage. I tell myself every season not to buy another one, but they are just so cute and cozy I cannot help myself! If you have room in your closet, or don’t like me, you can add these cozy sweaters to your closet.
everyday essentials
a good lipstick — I don’t leave my house without some kind of lipstick. Most purses have half a dozen in them because no matter how I look, how little sleep I got or my mood; a little bit of lipstick goes a long way. My go to favorite has always been bobbi brown
simple jewelry — I have dozens of necklaces from J. Crew, but my favorite has to be my kate spade initial necklace because it is simple, but is a nice addition to any outfit.
stylish sneakers — As a self proclaimed fashion blogger, I refuse to wear sneakers outside of the gym or for anything besides physical activity. However, these sperry sneakers are really cute and don’t look like bulky sneakers.
grab and go bag — A girls favorite bag is one that can hold everything she owns and for it to still look stylish. This tote from Madewell is worth the investment! I use it when I travel or for work.
stay connected — It is amazing how a little piece of technology can change your life! I am in love with my fitbit. It seems like a silly purchase, but now I am pushed to get those steps in and I am able to have it connected to my phone so I get my texts on it.
jot this down — One thing I always have in my purse is a notebook from HomeGoods. It is helpful to have to jot things down and I have my to do lists on there.
blazer — I have been obsessed with the look of a blazer with jeans lately. This brown j. crew schoolboy blazer is the perfect alternative to a fall coat.
when you have a free minute — Fun fact, I actually do my nails at my desk or at break. Throw essie gel nail polish in your polish so when you have a free minute you can do a polish change.
stay in the know — If you have a commute to work or you are tired of the radio, I highly suggest you start listening to podcasts. My favorites right now are NYtimes daily and pod save America.
skip the makeup routine — If you don’t have time to do a full face of makeup or you woke up looking not so great, you can throw on some stylish sunglasses. My favorite right now are from Tory Burch.
good jeans — For years, jeans were just jeans. I didn’t get the hype of investing in expensive jeans. My jeans in college were from Forever 21 or American Eagle. Then I purchased a pair from Madewell and J. Crew and these really are the best jeans on Earth!
podcasts every twenty-something should listen to

Lately, I have been a big fan of podcasts while driving to and from work. My one job has an hour commute each way, and halfway there I lose reception of the New York radio stations I usually listen to because I drive so far down to South Jersey. A few months ago, I finally opened the Podcast app on my iPhone and started to explore them. There comes a time in everyone’s life when listening to the radio is just not enough. I keep switching between radio stations and it is the same songs over and over. I wanted to listen to something more while I drive to work or spend time in my car.
Even when I am cleaning up around the house or when I have been doing landscaping outside, I press play on my iPhone and listen to a podcast. The best part about podcasts is that they can fit in your back pocket and you can take them everywhere. Today on the blog, I am sharing a few of my must listen to podcasts that I make time for everyday. There is so much news circulating in the world, a lot of important things goes unknown because there is so much fluff out there.
MY FAVORITE PODCASTS
POD SAVE AMERICA // Four former aides to President Obama chat with journalists, politicians, comedians and activists about important current events in American and abroad.
TED TALKS DAILY // Ted Talks on the go! One of my favorite parts about college, was being able to listen to Ted Talks in class. In under 10 minutes, you can hear stories and through provoking ideas on every subject. It is a great thing to listen to on your way to work to make your brain start to work.
THE DAILY // I love to read The New York Times, but never have the time to actually read the New York Times. I do follow them on Twitter, but found it a lot easier to listen to The Daily from The New York Times. With just a car ride to work, I can find out the important news for the day.
LOVETT OR LEAVE IT // Jon Lovett, former speechwriter for President Obama, hosts a roundup of the week’s top news with comedians, actors, journalists and other funny people. There are games, rants and many laughs!
Leave a comment if there are any other good ones out there that I am missing!
getting out of the house fast in the morning
Okay, you hit the snooze button. 5 more minutes turned into twenty and now you are jumping out of bed frantic to get out of the house. Sad to say, but this is me every morning. But I have found ways to get my morning routine done in less than 20 minutes. That is including hair, makeup, and a cute outfit that actually matches with breakfast to go.
- Breakfast is Important
I stock up every week on breakfast foods that I can grab and go to get out of the house as quick as possible. My usual go to are frozen waffles that usually pop out of the toaster by the time my coffee stops brewing or bagels. I also stock up on fruit so I can eat in the car on my way to work. If you stock your kitchen with breakfast foods, you can still have breakfast even though you are running late out the door. - When Beauty Sleep Doesn’t Do The Trick
I know I am not alone when I say that when I wake up, I do not look like a movie star waking up in a movie. My hair is messed up, my eye makeup that didn’t come off the night before is around my eyes, simply put I look like a hot mess. Right now I am using Bare Minerals Liquid Foundation, Maybelline Under Eye Concealer, my Naked 3 eyeshadow palette to brighten my eyes, a swoop of eyeliner and Better Than Sex mascara to open my eyes. And of course, a little bit of Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer and Fit ME blush to brighten my face. - Plan Your Outfit the Night Before
Or just have a really organized closet. I have previously talked about my closet HERE and how I keep it organized. I have my work clothes hanging and my pants and skirts all in one place so I can easily make a work outfit.
