I purchased this Gucci belt dupe on Amazon!
A few years ago I started to have the funds to splurge on nicer quality clothes, makeup, and accessories. In the past, I always liked the designer brand names but couldn’t really afford it on a college student salary. After a few paychecks at my first job post-graduation, I started to treat myself to a few things I couldn’t afford in the past. After a few purchases, I was hooked and knew that it would be hard to go back to buying cheap mascara and cheap clothes. While the price is sometimes right, the quality may not always be the best and I found that I was having to repurchase shoes often and bags would fall apart after a year.

When it comes to shopping, I would rather spend more on an item if I know it will be in style for a few years. I still shop at Target for cute shoes and affordable finds, but I am more picky about quality and how many uses I will get out of it. A few years ago, I picked up a Chloe bag dupe at Express because I loved the style of the bag but knew I didn’t need to spend thousands of dollars on a handbag that was for going out. My Gucci dupe slides are from Target and are my most worn shoe to this day. However, I know that I would never wear them if I actually spent that much money on shoes. Ya know? One day I would love a Louis Vuitton handbag, but I know that purchase is going to be years down the road for me. In the meantime, instead of buying a fake/dupe, I’ll save the money to use towards my purchase for the real bag in the future.
There was one dupe that I splurged on that I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. There was a Gucci belt going around on Amazon for months that everyone was raving about. I’ve never been a big fan of buying a fake and pretending it’s real. All I can think about is the fake Chanel bags from my high school days that were sold everywhere. Now that I own higher end bags, I can’t imagine using a pleather bag again. Unless it’s pink and really cute from Target — then that is a different story π Right now my budget is more like Target than Nordstrom. One day hopefully I will be able to have the money to buy a new designer handbag or accessory but for now, I keep my shopping to a minimum and look at other stores to buy my accessories. I’m still very picky and do my research before buying anything because I know what happens when I buy cheap clothes or bags. Their short shelf life isn’t worth the money if I have to repurchase in the future.
So I decided to see what the hype was all about on this Gucci belt dupe and I have to say that so far, I like it. It doesn’t get much use because I don’t wear belts that often. Another reason I decided to get the dupe, I don’t wear belts enough to get the real thing. Whenever I want to dress up an outfit, I can easily put it on and wear as an accessory.
Amazon is filled with designer dupes that it can be overwhelming. How do you know which ones are good quality and which ones feel cheap? I would love to know your thoughts of dupes and if they are something you shop frequently or pass on.
