Welcome to 2019, friends! I am finally back to work on the blog. I took a few days off around Christmas and New Years just to enjoy the free time. My goal was to catch up on content on New Years Day but I got a little distracted. I spent my day off cleaning my entire apartment and watching movies instead.
What I’m Watching
I have been obsessed with Leah Remini’s Scientology documentary. It has been my nightly go to for the last two weeks and it is impossible to stop myself from watching another episode when I should go to bed. The documentary sucks you in and exposes a lot of what the religion really is.
The other night I was working on my blog and wanted something easy to watch in the background. I was scrolling on Netflix and found Marie Kondo’s new show Tidying Up. I have personally Marie Kondo’d my life multiple times and I love this approach to keeping a clean home. Jake was on his laptop next to me so I asked if he would be okay watching it and he was busy on his laptop so he didn’t care. I knew what to expect from this show, but Jake had never heard of Marie Kondo or the spark of joy. When we watch tv together, we try to find shows that we both like to watch so I wasn’t sure if Jake would like this show. A few minutes in, he was hooked and we were up until 4am watching it!
I started to make dinner and meal prep with the tv on so I can multitask more easily. I have a bad habit of turning on the tv and then not getting off the couch to make dinner. Oops! With that said… I ran out of episodes to watch during Leah Remini’s Scientology show the other night and started to watch the R. Kelly documentary. It is only six episodes so it took me two days to binge watch the whole thing. Definitely worth watching!
What I’m Reading
I have had the third book of the Me Before You series next to my bed for months now and I still have not been able to find time to read it. My goal this year is to read more, but I am still figuring out how I am going to make that happen. I have been wanting to work out more but struggle finding the motivation like most people. Lately I have been bringing magazines with me to read while I am on the bike at the gym. I like to have a distraction while I work out so I am not constantly counting the minutes go by as I bike 5 miles.
Products I’m Loving
Loreal sent me a PR package of their Elvive Conditioner which was awesome because I am already a really big fan of the brand. I should hopefully have a blog post up on the blog with my review sometime next week. In other news, I started to wear makeup to work again which is something I haven’t really done in months. My work environment is very laid back so I can get away with no makeup and my hair in a ponytail, but I wanted to start wearing makeup again because it has always brought me joy. You can read all about my favorite makeup products under my Beauty tab!
Speaking of Joy, The KonMari Method
Jake and I have been watching Tidying Up on Netflix and he is new to the Marie Kondo approach to cleaning and organizing. I have been following this approach for a few years now and it has helped me keep my belongings in check. Since we both live in apartments and will most likely move every year for the next few years, we are constantly downsizing and reevaluating what we can get rid of. On my to-do list is to write a blog post of my own covering the KonMarie method. I did years ago when I first discovered it but it is very outdated and clearly early blog writing material!
I have this coat in camel and immediately fell in love with the new pink version. Bought it immediately when I saw that it went to clearance!
Horrible photo, but I wanted to show you guys my new bow hair ties. I have been wearing my hair in a ponytail most of the time lately and I love how these bows easily dress up a simple pony.
Over the weekend, I got inspired to make it easier for my readers to find older content and make the blog more user friendly. If you look at my menu above, I have created drop down menus making it easier to navigate the blog. Let me know if these updates are helpful!
