blanket scarves and brunch

I love Sunday Brunch and lately I have been doing a lot of brunching the last few weeks! Now that I am back to work, I realize how valuable time off is. I feel tired all of the time, but I’d rather drag my butt out of bed and enjoy the day instead of sleep through the day when I get a day off of work. This past Sunday was my only day off that week since I’m working two part jobs and trying to get as many hours as I can at each job. I was planning to sleep late, but last minute we had some family driving through our state so we made plans for Sunday brunch. I woke up at 8am on a Sunday even though I wanted to roll over and go back to bed! I wanted to look cute for family and enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch to get me started for the day so waking up earlier than planned was a must. We decided to go to McCloones in Asbury Park for brunch because it’s right on the ocean and our family is from Ohio so they don’t see the beach often.

pumpkin patch & plaid

img_0746

All I have wanted to do this October was to buy a mum (or two!) and get some pumpkins! I feel like I was always busy and then I went on vacation, so I never had the time. I didn’t want to pick up my pumpkins at Wegmans during my weekly shop, I wanted to make the drive to West Jersey to where the farms are. On Monday, I started the first day at my new job and got out early after some training. I called my parents and I dragged them out of the house and to the pumpkin patch! I am so happy to cross off an item on my fall bucket list! It was 80 degrees today, so it did not really feel like fall, but I loved the fall festivities!

Keep scrolling to the bottom to see what plaids and fall shirts I am obsessed with lately!

Wait… I can only pick one pumpkin???img_2394-1img_2382

Okay, so these pumpkins were a lot heavier than they looked!

The shirt I am wearing is old from L.A. Hearts at Pacsun and the jeans are Bullhead. My boots are from Nordstrom and are less than $100! Check out THIS POST for more information about them. I have some of my favorite fall shirts below! I am obsessed with the Vineyard Vines shirt and hope to see it in my closet soon!

What are some fall activities you have been up to so far??

Tuesday Shoesday: Ankle Boots

Fall Boots

I love shopping for new styles every season, but I also get really stressed out about making big purchases. If I am going to swipe my AmEx for a big purchase, I hope to be able to use it everyday. I try to save money wherever I can when it comes to clothes, but lately I have had the funds to splurge a little. When I was taking out my fall wardrobe out of storage I realized I needed new ankle boots. Desperately.

I started to look online for options and came to the realization that purchasing just one pair of boots that will go will everything is almost impossible. Should I get black boots, suede boots, brown boots, tassels?? The options go on and on, and free shopping on the Nordstrom website was not helping me make a decision. I suggest making a budget for how much money you want to spend on boots and do not go over it!! When you make a budget, you can then determine what stores you are going to look at for boots. Don’t start browsing Tory Burch boots when you know you cannot afford them!

I wanted to buy a pair of boots that I can wear to work, run  errands in and to grab drinks with friends in.  I had a lot of demands from one pair of boots! But if I will be spending money on boots, I want to make sure I will wear them every single day.

There are so many different type of booties, with colors, heel style, material and the little details on them. I recently wrote a post about some of the booties I wanted HERE, and after hours of research it made making a decision a lot easier when I was ready to make a purchase!

My Recommendation

My Go To Brown Leather Boots
I finally decided to purchase THESE and they have become my new wear with everything shoe. When I wore them the other day my friend almost stole them off my feet because she loved them so much. She loved them even more when I told her they were under $100! I can wear them with neutrals, like with an all white outfit or with jeans and a plaid shirt. Over the summer my go to shoes were my Tory Burch Miller Sandals I wore with everythinggg, so I like that I can wear my boots with my whole wardrobe this fall.
The boots I purchased are simple and not fussy, so I can just throw them on with every outfit.

Booskerdoo Coffee

I love coffee. Coffee is the reason for me to get out of bed in the morning even if I slept for more than 8 hours, I still wake up and go through coffee withdrawals. I am not a morning person and this whole being an adult and waking up early for work is only made possible because the sun coming up means I can press the start button on my keurig and get coffee. In college I feel like I always had a cup of Starbucks in my hand, with me in the library, sitting on my desk while I listened and wrote notes for a lecture. Coffee was my oxygen as Lorelai Gilmore says, without it, I do not function! My college degree was possible because of coffee! My junior year of college a doctor discovered that my internal organs were shutting down because of my caffeine intake. She asked me to stop my caffeine intake because it was making my organs work harder than they should and I just laughed, it was finals the next week, coffee was necessary. My dream date is having coffee delivered to me while in bed, no coffee no talkey! My friends can agree, when I start a morning without coffee, I am one groggy person until I get my hands on a cup of joe!

I came back from my Nashville trip with a runny nose and an attractive cough. My bedside table looks like a pharmacy with NyQuil and DayQuil, tissues, fluids and a cup of tea that has gotten cold. My Saturday was supposed to be a full day of Netflix (currently obsessed with The Ranch) and staying in bed under the covers. But when my dad asked if I wanted to go get a free cup of coffee at a new coffee shop in Asbury Park, I immediately sat up in bed! Coffee??? Free??? Free coffee??? Okay, pants were on in a matter of seconds and my nose was cooperating for a free minutes for us to drive over to Asbury.

I was driving and was surprised to find it on the West side of the train tracks in Asbury. It was the side of town that still has a bad image, the crime still exists and people still look over their shoulder when they walk down the street. So I was suprised to find the new coffee shop, Booskerdoo, at the corner of Memorial Drive and Sunset Ave. This shopping center has been completely renovated, had new sidewalks, mulch and plants ready to bloom. Was I in Asbury Park? Was I in West Asbury Park?? I was so happy to walk inside of a business on this side of town.

Booskerdoo is SO cute! Wait…. cute is not the right word…. Booskerdoo brings that city coffee shop atmosphere to Asbury Park, but with that Asbury feel that everyone who works there loves what they do because it is a small business that loves good coffee. The coffee was delicious… it was clearly made with love! I appreciate their commitment to good coffee. Booskerdoo coffee is roasted locally,  is organic and is always fresh.

Definitely stop by Booskerdoo and pick up a coffee (or cookie too!).
