At the end of each week I like to OCD clean my desk. All of the papers get filed, I restock on paper clips and try to retrieve all of the pens people “borrowed”. While I have all of the traditional office supplies on my desk, I like to also have an emergency kit on my desk for things I may need.

Snacks

I have an entire drawer of snacks in my desk filled with goldfish, pretzels and breakfast foods in case I am running in the morning and don’t have time to prepare anything. On Monday, I restock my drawer with healthy options and some salty snacks. Having something to constantly munch on helps me get through the day! I am honestly surprised I am not 300 pounds after all I eat at my desk.

Hand Sanitizer

I work in finance and it involves a lot of interaction with cash and checks. I log in checks and donations from people throughout the day so I am always using hand sanitizer because I have no idea where the money has been! I was never much of a germ freak, but after working a the front desk and always interacting with people I like to kill 99.9% percent of germs!

Lotion

You don’t realize you have dry skin until you are somewhere where you don’t have lotion. I have a little bottle on my desk in case my skin starts pealing because of a sunburn or as a nice way to procrastinate doing work.

Chapstick

I don’t think I need to explain this one!

Lipstick

The number one trick to convince people I am wide awake at work when I am actually exhausted is using lipstick. Just a little pop of color brightens up my face and makes me look presentable even if I have no other makeup on.

Tide To Go

Lately I seem to spill everything on myself even when I go out of my way to prevent it! Since I am constantly eating at my desk, my outfit isn’t completely ruined when I drop crumbs all over me.

What are some of the things you keep at your desk?
