Finding Balance During the Busy Holiday Season

I love everything about the holidays. The shopping, the festive activities, decorating the tree and spending time with the people I love. I love seeing my evenings and weekends fill up with fun things to do, but I also need time to sit on my couch in pajamas on a Sunday afternoon and watch really bad Christmas movies. There is always so much to do around this time of year, that I need to remind myself that it is okay to reschedule plans to make time for me to relax. I love everything about the holidays, but my favorite thing has to be sitting on my couch watching Christmas movies with my tree lit up.

Let us not get caught up with the bustle of activities this holiday season and make time for ourselves. There is always going to be something else I could be doing, like the clean dishes sitting in my dishwasher right now, and instead enjoy my time staying home.

I started to set timers on my phone so I can dedicate 10 minutes of tidying up when I get home from work and then when my alarm goes off I can make time for something else. Living alone means that I don’t have someone else to split apartment cleaning or cooking with so I can often feel overwhelmed. There were nights that I would stay up late to do one more load of laundry or clean off another table. Finally, I made it a rule that I have to be in bed before midnight.
