Laundry Room Makeover

One of the things I was excited about this summer was my parents laundry room. The laundry room was connected to the first floor bathroom but it wasn’t in the basement and there were new machines that didn’t destroy everything that went in like my machines at home. It made me love doing laundry because of the convenience and after my mom and I made a few updates, it became my favorite room!

The room didn’t need a big makeover and my mom has big plans to for the space down the line. We just wanted to make some small changes to spruce up the space until a bigger renovation. Since laundry is not always a fun task, I wanted to make the laundry room inviting and also practical.

My mom and I headed over to Hobby Lobby and picked out some decor and cute storage items. My mom has a vision to renovate the bathroom and laundry room in black and white tile and matching wallpaper so we wanted to get some storage to match that vision. To help prevent clutter, we got storage baskets for laundry items at Hobby Lobby. We wanted to keep it simple and most important functional! The shelves were already there so we were able to easily swap things out and add some decor that fit the room. We also picked out the cute sign and lamp from Hobby Lobby and we went around the house to find some other decor that matched. It took just some shopping and a little bit of time to transform this little laundry room into an inviting space.

I hope this post inspires you to spruce up a room in your home that is used a lot and may need some changes. It was a lot of fun to spruce up this space and make it a more inviting space.

Trying Milk Drops with Beekman 1802

Self-care is so important these days! This is why I like to spend a few minutes before bed washing my face and applying my evening skincare before bed. I’ve recently been trying new skincare products and looking into new brands I have not used before. The last few months I’ve been loving the Beekman 1802 Milk Drops at night because it is soothing and absorb into my skin very well. It’s quick and easy to apply before going to bed which is a skincare routine I really like! The Beekman1802 Milk Drops Probiotic Ceramide Serum is a lightweight probiotic milk serum that is packed with essential ceramides, squalane, hyaluronic acid, and plant enzymes. It is made with goat milk and packed with other essential ingredients to give you radiant skin. I love waking up in the morning because my face feels soft and looks healthy, most mornings I can go makeup-free because my face is glowing. In the morning after I wash my face, I apply some of the milk drops to get a dewy look.

I am embracing more make-up-free days since we are still staying safe at home and it’s been getting easier to do now that I am focusing more on skincare. I was so delighted when Beekman 1802 sent me a gorgeous package with products because it was a new brand to me and I’ve been loving it since day one! After trying the product and doing some research, I was happy to use a brand that is so passionate about their product, their skincare philosophy, and their story. Adding Botanics Simply Calm Facial Oil to my Fall Skincare Routine + Review

I’ve been focusing more and more on skincare the last few years to help my skin look good now and in years to come. I’m always trying new creams and tools to get results but then I saw everyone using facial oils. I haven’t used serums and oils as much because honestly I didn’t know where to even start. Facial oils can be expensive and sometimes buying the most expensive one will not work for your skin. We use oil serums in our hair and see immediate results so I wanted to get in the habit of using facial oils on my skin. I was excited when Botanics, a natural and organic skincare company that you can find at Ulta or Target, reached out to send me their Simply Calm Facial Oil.

One of the benefits of using oils is that their are so many on the market that you can pick and choose a facial oil that works best with your skin type and needs. Botanics Simply Calm Facial Oil is great for sensitive skin because it is natural and organic so there are no unnecessary ingredients in the formula. An added ingredient in the Simply Calm Facial Oil is cannabis sativa seed oil to help calm your skin and gets rid of redness while keeping it hydrated. Most products mask redness while this facial oil seeps into your skin to calm your angry skin with the cannabis sativa seed oil.

This summer, I used the Botanics Simply Calm Facial Oil in the morning and at night after I washed my face. Even after hours in the sun and layers of sunscreen, my face looked healthy and not irritated with product build up or sun exposure. This fall, I will keep using it daily to help my skin as the seasons change and we switch from AC to heat at home.

Most days I can go without the makeup because my face looks so good and a big part of that is adding a facial oil to my skincare routine. I’ll apply it to my face using the stopper on my forehead and cheeks before rubbing it in. Once my forehead and cheeks have product rubbed into them, I continue down to my neck and rub off the extra product on my hands there. Reminder to use your hands going up your neck never down while applying product to your face! The oil smells good and doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. At night I’ll wait a minute before I apply my night cream before I hop into bed. My face is dry by the time I walk to bed and don’t notice any stains on my sheets which was a worry for me at first. I’ve been loving this product and hope you do too!

Friday Favorites 9.18

Last week, I was wearing shorts and a tank top or a bathing suit and this week I am wearing long sleeves and leggings! The weather has definitely shifted; it’s cold, overcast and the sun is going down a lot earlier. It’s making me think of Jake’s family who was directly impacted by the hurricane this week in Pensacola and my friends out west in the path of the fires. I’m excited to be back home in Philly with Jake and Ed but I really am going to miss my time in the South with my parents.

One of the best things about fall is all of the new things to watch! I even made a list of things to watch because I didn’t watch much tv the last few months. Fall television is going to be different this year so I plan on watching shows live to support. One show that will be interesting because of the cast is Dancing with the Stars.

This week I made time to watch the This Is Paris documentary on YouTube. It’s free to watch and heartbreaking to see what happens in Paris Hilton’s life behind the cameras and her brand.

I was excited to be home because I can finally catch up on the current season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I’ve been trying to keep up with the drama on Twitter so now I’m binging season 10 this week.

I’m still sharing my reading list on Goodreads to keep me committed to my reading goal. I did a lot of reading over the summer and I need to get into a routine of reading everyday this fall.

I stocked up on a ton of products before we came home so I got this new bag to keep it all organized. It’s so cute and holds so much that I plan on getting some more bags in this print.

There is currently a ton of new products on my vanity that I am excited to share on the blog in the next few weeks. Over the summer I’ve been going makeup free most days and really focusing on skincare. After seeing an amazing deal on 3 full size eyeshadow palettes from Tarte, I had to order it ASAP!

Recently bought these sandals because they were on clearance and I’ve been wearing them nonstop since. Very comfortable and do not look or feel cheap even though they were only $12.

WOW, I have missed my kitchen so much the last few months! I am back to making dinner every night and trying new and old recipes. We did a big grocery trip when we got back to Philly so I was able to make our favorite penne vodka which was delicious! I’ve been sharing our dinners on Instagram stories and it’s been a great motivator to cook and interact with you all.

Speaking of amazing food, I just discovered the Starkist tuna creations and they are a game changer for lunches!

Gourd-geous Fall Decor from Target

Jake and I went on an amazing date recently and it was one of the highlights of 2020. What was it? Oh we went to Starbucks and Target to walk up and down every single aisle as we stocked up on fall decor. Seems silly but it was the most normal thing we did all year and brought us a glimpse of our normal routines back in 2019. We (I) love Target so we would often go browse on weekends when we had nothing to do and pick up some home decor. Once we got back to Philly, we cleaned up the house and put away summer home decor to make room for pumpkins. This year a lot of my home decor from Target came from the bullseye playground which is overflowing with amazing fall items. I’m buying a lot of fake pumpkins from Target since we probably won’t make it to a pumpkin patch this year. 2020 is a weird year so we are making the best of the seasons changing and going all out with decorating our home for fall! Target always has amazing items that perfectly match with last years Target haul which makes it easy to decorate our home. I’m also really excited about this GOURD-GEOUS door mat 😉

Affordable Swimwear

The last few months I have not been writing on the blog as much because I was staying with my family in North Carolina and left my laptop in a drawer. It was nice to spend time with my family and be outside in the backyard or pool. I read a lot, spent a lot of time maintaining their garden and reading in the back screened in porch. For some reason, I packed two big suitcases of clothes with me thinking I would wear a lot of clothes when I actually spent most of my day in a bathing suit. While I was there I ordered a few affordable bathing suits to try and they quickly became favorites!

Any local knows that local summer is the best time to order swimwear because that is when swimwear goes on sale. Growing up a beach kid I’ve always loved buying new swimwear and pieces I knew I could wear into the ocean without worrying they would get ruined. I have a handful of investment pieces that I bought on major sale and fun affordable pieces that are trendy but didn’t break the bank.

Right now Philly is experiencing a cold front so I’m hoping we get some warmer weather soon so I can lay out in our backyard a few more times before fall is officially here! This summer I had the opportunity to be outside everyday (with sunscreen!) for 3 months so it’s the tannest I have honestly ever been. Of course I’m tan and more fit but no one can see it because we are quarantining! If you can’t tell, I’m not ready for summer to be over!
