Friday Favorites 1.3

I have been asking myself a dozen times “What day is it?” because the concept of time the last two weeks is a blur. It’s Flursday. I have alarms set on my phone to make sure I am aware of my commitments but other than that, it’s been a lot of lounging around in pajamas and giving my body permission to REST. I’m using this time to make lists, reflect on the last year, and deep clean the house. I’ve been seeing the trend Pan Project 2025 a lot and I thought I was bad with having a lot of clutter but after watching these videos, I’m realizing I have a normal amount of backstock products. But that doesn’t mean I’m giving myself permission to not clear the shelves so to speak. This being my first Favorites post of the new year, I thought it would be fun to summarize my favorite things of 2024. So let’s do it!

This year, I’ve been grabbing my makeup that brings me joy and that has been a lot of pink. I took that Barbie trend and kept it going into my makeup routine. I created a go-to easy, natural makeup look….Glowy skin, pops of pink with pink lipstick and gloss in my pocket to reapply often. Each season I committed to an eyeshadow palette and only used that one (or two) to use up what I already have. Swapping them out every few weeks reminded me what I already have and it felt like I was getting something new even though I already had it.

Lipstick lasts longer, but gloss is more fun.

This year has been about less stuff and more joy in experiences. Going to one of my favorite restaurants in Philly, Parc, just because we want to, and no longer waiting for a special occasion. Getting tickets to see the Philadelphia Orchestra perform, taking advantage of the amazing restaurants in walking distance from us like the amazing Italian restaurant, Giuseppe & Sons. Walking to The Dandelion for tea and scones on a Sunday morning because we missed London. Walking through Rittenhouse Square on a Saturday morning to shop the farmers market is always a must for me in the summer because it reminds me to slow down and appreciate where I am in life right now. I worked so hard to be able to live in a city and be able to do these amazing things, that I need to slow down and appreciate the things around me.

Now or Never

This year I really committed to always have a book I was reading. During the warm summer months, I would get home from work, pour myself a glass of wine or an Aperol Spritz, and head out to the backyard to read a little before making dinner. During the “ber” months, I’ve been finding time to read before work or have a cup of hot tea and get into bed to read a few pages before I fell asleep. I didn’t read as many books as I wanted to this year, but it’s been nice getting lost in a fantasy world of the Ton or 200 years ago in Scotland.

  • Monday Mourning, Kathy Reichs
  • The Woman in Me, Britney Spears
  • A Breath of Snow and Ashes, Diana Gabaldon
  • The Christie Affair, Nina de Gramont
  • The Duke and I, Julia Quinn
  • The Viscount Who Loved Me, Julia Quinn
  • An Offer From a Gentleman, Julia Quinn

Another highlight of this year…..

One of my goals this year is to write on this little corner of the internet more in 2025. It used to bring me so much joy to recap my weeks and share things that brought me joy. Then life got busy and the internet told me videos were more trendy to do so I found finding time to write long updates about my life difficult to do.

Here’s a list you will want to check twice to find the perfect gift for your girl friends. From coworkers, sisters, or best friends, here are some gifts she will be excited to unwrap this Christmas!

Paris Hilton Memoir // I love to gift my friends who love watching reality TV a book written by a TV personality. It’s usually something they would never get for themselves, so it’s always an appreciated gift!

Summer Fridays // For your cousin who is cooler than you and you don’t know what to get her, a lip balm from Sunday Fridays will make you the cool gift giver this year.

Evening Skincare with ELEMIS Superfood Midnight Facial

Every night I make time for a little “me time” before bed. I make some tea and put on a podcast like Goop to start to unwind for the night. I’ve loved slowing down and being more intentional with enjoying the little things like washing my face at night instead of rushing rushing rushing. When you experience burnout, you quickly create habits that make you slow down and enjoy the little things. I love to use my new spa headband that I bought in bulk a few months ago to give to my bridesmaids. It was the most popular item in their boxes to ask them to officially be my bridesmaids and those boxes were full of higher-end goodies too! I like to wash my face with a makeup remover like this balm, and then use an acne wash, before using a basic skin cleaner like this one to clean my face. All of this to say, those spa headbands have been a lifesaver!

Once my face is really clean; my makeup is off, exfoliated, and clean, I sit at my vanity and apply retinol. I used to use retinol twice a week but now I use it nightly because before it was for preventative reasons but now my skin really needs it for the benefits! Next is the ELEMIS Superfood Midnight Facial. I’ve been a big fan of ELEMIS in the last few years and the night cream leaves my skin looking smoother and brighter. You know when you see people online with the perfect glowing skin and you wonder how their foreheads can look shiny in a good way? It’s because they use a good night cream and this one gives me hydrated skin that is just glowing when I wake up in the morning. It took using a night cream to understand how important they are in your evening skincare routine and I think I will cry a little tear when I run out of this one!

PUR The Complexion Authority 4-in-1 Cloud Cream

Over the last few years, I have been really committed to my skincare, morning and night. Funny how they say it only takes 21 days to make something a habit because that is a true statement when it comes to my skincare routine. Now without much thought, I grab for my skincare products in the morning and can’t go to bed without a few minutes at my vanity to use serums and my night cream.

On our recent weekend trip to New York City, I packed my skincare necessities knowing I wasn’t going to have the time to do a longer skincare routine while on vacation. I still had to pack my night cream and my PUR The Complexion Authority 4-in-1 Cloud Cream for the morning. This cream is unlike anything I ever used before because it starts off with a gel consistency making it easy to apply to your face and neck. Within moments, it transforms to a serum-type consistency and is quickly absorbed by the skin. My face is immediately hydrated and my face looks more plump which is nice during the cold, dryer months of winter. By the time I get my foundation out, my skin is dry enough to apply my foundation without it getting greasy like moisturizers can often be under makeup. I’ve been loving the no-makeup look so with a little bit of my Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter Foundation, the two products easily blend together to cover up any imperfections with enough coverage without looking like I have makeup on.

This cream feels like one of my higher-end products, especially with the high-quality ingredients but is very budget-friendly and can be found at our favorite stores, Target or Ulta. I loved being in our hotel suite in New York City because we would order room service and I would enjoy my second cup of coffee while getting ready in the morning. If only every morning could start off that peaceful!

Glowy Vacation Look with Vita Liberata Beauty Blur

When I first started to pack makeup for our trip, I had to remind myself it was going to be hot and humid. With that heat, I didn’t want to bring any heavy foundation so I packed my new tinted moisturizer to try it out. Since it’s a moisturizer, I found it really easy to blend and it held up really well with the 100 degree plus temperatures. Being on a cruise, I also wanted a minimal makeup look and found that the Beauty Blur Primer & Tinted Moisturizer gave me a nice natural glow without looking like I had makeup on. At night, I added some bronzer and blush to look a little more done up when we went to dinner but for the most part I wore the tinted moisturizer. Cannot recommend enough for an easy makeup look on vacation when you want a barely there makeup look.

HOW TO USE

  • Use a pea size amount on the face or decolletage and dot lightly onto cleansed skin after moisturizer
  • Blend outwards with fingers in circular movements or a foundation brush
  • Can be worn alone or under makeup

Trying Milk Drops with Beekman 1802

Self-care is so important these days! This is why I like to spend a few minutes before bed washing my face and applying my evening skincare before bed. I’ve recently been trying new skincare products and looking into new brands I have not used before. The last few months I’ve been loving the Beekman 1802 Milk Drops at night because it is soothing and absorb into my skin very well. It’s quick and easy to apply before going to bed which is a skincare routine I really like! The Beekman1802 Milk Drops Probiotic Ceramide Serum is a lightweight probiotic milk serum that is packed with essential ceramides, squalane, hyaluronic acid, and plant enzymes. It is made with goat milk and packed with other essential ingredients to give you radiant skin. I love waking up in the morning because my face feels soft and looks healthy, most mornings I can go makeup-free because my face is glowing. In the morning after I wash my face, I apply some of the milk drops to get a dewy look.

I am embracing more make-up-free days since we are still staying safe at home and it’s been getting easier to do now that I am focusing more on skincare. I was so delighted when Beekman 1802 sent me a gorgeous package with products because it was a new brand to me and I’ve been loving it since day one! After trying the product and doing some research, I was happy to use a brand that is so passionate about their product, their skincare philosophy, and their story. I’m so excited to see this company made up of people who love their products and mission succeed at Ulta.
